Bad Mommy, BAD!!!

So as it goes... Aidan at 10 months, 11 months, and now almost a year, I lost my camera and STILL have NOT gotten a new one. How can this be? How can I let these precious months slip past me?

I did happen to catch Aidan crawling for the very first time on my good ol' cell phone. Great quality let me tell you. This accomplishment came the day after turning 11 months. And to our surprise one of his top teeth broke skin. The o-joys of teething are back!!!

It has only taken a week and he is now all over the place. He has mastered the art of crawling. I set him down on his butt and IMMEDIATELY he is on his knees scoping out where he can go next.

In the same week he learned to crawl, Aidan is now standing up in his crib. Oh Man!! What used to be a very predictable (lay Aidan down in crib with paci and blankie - asleep within 5/10 minutes) bedtime, is now a protest (Aidan: "I don't want to go to sleep right now, can't you see I am standing here making noise, I want you to take me out of here so I can crawl some more"). I woke up in the middle of the night to Aidan whimpering in his room and I went in to check on him only to see him standing up with his little head peering over the rail, EYES CLOSED. Is he really standing there asleep?? To my surprise I give him his pacifier and sure enough he melts down and cuddles with his blankie. It was the most funny thing I have seen him do yet!!!

Ok, so maybe I am not a bad mommy, but hurry up and get a camera ALREADY!!!!

4th of July

4th of July was a lay low type of day due to the passing of Mr. D. I really had no energy to spend (even to go to the beach) because of the emotional energy spent over the last few weeks at work.

a simple day spent amongst family..

and to top off the night we watched fireworks on our balcony overlooking the La Costa Resort and Spa.  WOW talk about a personal backyard show!!!!

farewell Mr. D

and so it goes....

11/8/1914-7/3/2009

6 1/2 years and such an instrumental part of my life, I thank you for your wisdom, teachings, kindess, and belief in me!
I will carry you forward in many aspects of my life ;o)

your kindness will never be forgotten...

lets stick to the pool for now...

going to the
beach is still such an 'event'. Aidan isn't quite comfortable with the sand, rolling water, sunscreen and glare

as you can probably imagine, we didn't stay long..

let's hope he gets used to the beach and starts to enjoy it because later this summer we have two weeks to enjoy camping at the Carlsbad State Beach Campgrounds...

i still love you little guy!!
♥♥♥♥

summer time...pool time

Lucky for us we have a pool to enjoy and since we live amongst elderly
 there is never anyone there

cute little bum

this little raft is the best invention plus mom and dad are hands free ;o)

catching up....

On June 28th, Aidan turned 9 months... boy oh boy have the months flown by. I feel like just yesterday I was swaddling him, waking up 3 to 4 times a night, making sure he was eating, sleeping, playing, having tummy time, etc... training him to become a 'good ole' human being. But at 9 months things have completely changed... so here is Aidan in a nutshell..
  • Two bottom teeth
  • Two ear infections
  • Loves to eat: whole grain banana puffs, baby cheese puffs (just like grandpa Frank), chunks of banana, peaches, zucchini, beans, carrots, sweet potatoes, and of course all of the mixtures of baby jarred food
  • Loves taking baths
  • Sits perfectly on his own and plays with toys
  • Loves to be held
  • Enjoys peek-a-boo
  • Babbles da da and all sorts of sounds/syllables
  • Thankfully for mommy and daddy Aidan is completely weaned from his bedtime bottle and goes to sleep perfectly on his own (definitely needs a blankie with silk edges)
  • Hates tummy time and needless to say isn't crawling yet
  • Starting to get restless when changing his diaper
  • Hates to be idle and MUST change activities frequently
Thank you Aidan for entering our lives. You are a constant reminder of how precious love is and how thankful we are of each other, our families, and our friends. You have enriched us so and we hope to return the favor and raise you to the best of our abilities full of love, laughter, knowledge, and fun...

xoxo, mom & dad

Day of Horses!

On Saturday Mike and I took Aidan for his very first fair/carnival experience; this wasn't just any fair, it was the Del Mar Fair (I refuse to call it the San Diego County Fair - uggg). Since I grew up in this area, the fair was a huge part of my growing up and I was happy to see Aidan have so much fun.

I knew Aidan would enjoy strolling around looking at all the farm animals, lights, rides and games, but i was a little unsure how he would react to getting on a ride. I took him on the merry-go-round where he rode the dragon and to my surprise he was so accepting and bounced his little body up and down showing me that he was really into it. It was so cute to see him instinctually hold on for dear life. He also road the real ponies with even more excitement. He was the youngest and smallest riding the pony and (of course) received a lot of attention.

Daddy's 1st Father's Day

To celebrate Mike's 1st father's day, Aidan and I sent him on a mini search around the house to find clues leading him to his present. He was in and out of the toy bin, all around the crib, all throughout the car seat, eventually leading him to the cupboard where he found a gift certificate to get his car detailed.

We also had a fantastic fruit filled brunch at the Santaniello's followed by a prime rib din din at our house for Grandpa Tiger. All in all it was a great day!!

Dillon Bradley...

Aidan has a COUSIN!!! Dillon Bradley Bourque was born May 16th, 2009 @ 8:35pm. He weighed in at 9lbs 3oz and was 20 inches long. As you can see he is a total opposite of our little Aidan. They are going to grow up best buds and before long you won't even be able to tell that they are 7 months apart.

8 months old

Aidan is now eight months old and I am taken back by how fast time has gone by. Everyone warned me to treasure every moment because they 'grow up so quick' and today for the first time I have realized that Aidan isn't a little baby anymore. He is itching to be his own person, he is so aware of everything around him, he spits out every syllable you can imagine and knows how to reach for mommy. He melts my heart everyday!!
